Modern Leadership

Modern Leadership

Wednesday 3rd October 2007

Adrian Moorhouse MBE

Managing Director of Lane4

Adrian will be explaining his views on modern leadership and how he tries to role model the philosophy of his organisation.

Olympic Gold Medal winning swimmer, Adrian Moorhouse, retired from international swimming in 1992 after 12 years as an elite performer.

He is now Managing Director of Lane4, a Buckinghamshire based business, of which he was a founder member in 1995. He combines this demanding role with designing and delivering programmes for organisations, and leading the company’s expansion into Europe, America and Australasia. His primary responsibilities include the strategic direction and financial health of Lane4

His work in the field of sport is still ongoing as a swimming commentator for the BBC although he now simply enjoys swimming regularly to keep fit. Adrian was awarded an MBE in 1987.

Adrian will be explaining his views on modern leadership and how he tries to role model the philosophy of his organisation.

Maybe you can find time for a short visit to the Wellcome Collection, next door to the headquarters at 215 Euston Road where the LHRC meeting will be held.

Visit http://www.wellcomecollection.org/ to read about what's on and the facilities available in the building, including the Library with its wealth of resources, and the exhibitions and events (both of which are free to visitors), and the conference centre, now available for booking.

Feedback

I really liked Adrian's relaxed, informal style and his personal story used to illustrate the points he was making about leadership. Wouldn't it be great if all leaders shared his underpinning philosophy!

I thought Adrian was very good - refreshing in terms of less "motivational" and more contextualised and real!

I thought this was an excellent event. I thought that Adrian simply and powerfully got to the core of the coach / client relationship and the necessary ingredients for any leader to coach and motivate their workforce. I was very impressed.

Very good topic and speaker. Could have done with more time, especially after the talk. Excellent venue.

Adrian was very clear in explaining what leadership means for him and the importance of walking the walk. I took away some new thoughts that have stimulated further ideas.

Whilst his style is relatively low key I found this an insightful and motivational event, which developed me at both a personal & professional level
