In what promises to be lively and fun this lunchtime session will be held in the format of a pub quiz, (with time built into the schedule to allow for discussion)
Liz is a senior solicitor who joined Bird & Bird's employment team in 1997. Before training as a solicitor she worked in industry for a number of years latterly in the recruitment industry.
She works in a number of different areas of employment law and has advised extensively on executive terminations and general employment-related issues such as redundancy programmes and disciplinary matters, discrimination and maternity and the drafting of employment related documentation. Liz also advises clients on Employment Tribunal proceedings and appeals to the Employment Appeals Tribunal and Court of Appeal including claims of unfair dismissal, breach of contract, and discrimination. She frequently advises employers on how to protect their confidential information, intellectual property rights, client base and workforce by means of both legal and practical measures. She has also been involved in a number of acquisitions, asset sales and the outsourcing of services and often advises on the TUPE regulations and their application to corporate transactions.
Having completed her training contract at Bird & Bird, Emily qualified into the International Employment and Incentives Group in September 2006.
Emily works on all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious. She has experience of drafting contracts of employment, staff handbooks and employee and executive termination documentation. She advises clients on a variety of issues including discrimination, unfair dismissal and TUPE transfers. Emily is familiar with tribunal preparation work and has run claims in the Employment Tribunal.
Emily also advises on a range of business-related immigration issues involving preparing work permit applications, extensions and applications for further leave to remain.
